Sariyatal is among the numerous lakes of Kumaun range which attracts thousands of tourists every year. It is nestled on Nainital – Kaladhungi road 5 km from Nainital. Sariyatal has a deep emerald lake which is also referred as Sarita Tal. Passerbys often take a long relaxing halt to enjoy quality peaceful time on the bank of Sariyatal.
Apart from the beautiful lake, Sariyatal is also famous for Himalayan Botanical Garden which is boasts butterfly park, herbarium, library and a fern house. This botanical garden is the workplace and study centre of scientists and the botanists.
Himalayan Botanical Garden is the place of eco-tourism and expanded over an area of 30 hectares. Other than the home of rare and endangered species of plants, this garden also has some major attractions which includes an orchidarium, fernatum, herbarium, Thunia alba orchid, geodesic dome, waterfalls, etc. Run by Uttarakhand Forest Department, the botanical garden has an entry ticket of Rs 20.
