With the arrival of the annual Autumn Festival (Sharad Utsav), district administration is leaving no stone unturned in the arrangements.
"I have already held meetings with representatives of all concerned agencies. More meetings are scheduled for the next few days," said Nainital DM Akshat Gupata, pledging to make the festival a grand success.
The four-day gala, meant to celebrate the indigenous culture and tradition of the hill state, will continue on and from November 5 till November 8. A three-day boat racing festival will be organized by the Nainital Yach Club as a precursor to the event. The competition will see different state teams aside from local as well as Army and Navy crews battling it out for the prestigious Governor’s Cup.
Waters sports, photography competitions, cultural programmes, musical nights, mushaira, etc will also be held as part of the festival. Visitors will also be treated to traditional Garhwali and Kumaoni cuisine at the event.
According to sources, popular celebrities are to perform on two days of the festival, although the choices are yet to be finalized and revealed.
"The municipal corporation ground will be renovated to host of cultural events and other programmes. District authorities have called a meeting to discuss the arrangements," said Shyam Narayan, chairman, Nainital municipal corporation.
