A three-day event is going to be organized at the 45-acre golf course for a tee-off competition in Nainital. It will be between 116 participants for the 13th Governor’s Cup golf tournament in Nainital Raj Bhavan. Rivals from Lucknow, Dehradun, Delhi, Chandigarh, Jaipur and Mumbai will compete in the lake city.
D S Majethia (94), eldest of the participants, said, "It is really challenging to score here because of the high altitude and the humidity. I feel honoured to participate in this prestigious tournament."
Captain of the Raj Bhawan Golf Club, Col (retd) Harish Sah, described the course details to the audience. "There are 18 holes in the par 61 course.
Out of all participants 10 are women and 14 are under 19. Rajesh Jairath is appointed as a qualified referee by the International Golf Union with 16 years of experience. Besides this, staff marshals of the Army and other organizations have also been appointed.
Raj Bhawan golf course was developed in 1926 and houses many rare and endangered species of flora and fauna. It was thrown open to the general public in 1994.
