Ghorakhal is a small town located near famous hill station of Kumaun, Nainital. Ghorakhal means a pond of water to quench thirst of horses. The beautiful town lies at a distance of about 15 km from Nainital.Ghorakhal offers breathtaking view of hilly trails of Kumaon region at an altitude of 2000 mtrs above sea level. This picturesque town of Ghorakhal is at distance of 3 km from Bhowali.

Ghorakhal Attractions

Ghorakhal has mainly two major attarctions:

Sainik School: Army School or Sainik School is a famous residential institution for boys only which was established on 21 march 1966. Its aim is to train its students for Armed Force officers and for other responsibilities in life.

Golu Devta Temple: Famous temple of Golu Devta, the presiding deity of temple and worshipped as an incarnation of Lord Shiva and God of Justice. This temple is well known for its unique rituals.

Ghorakhal can be easily reach via Bhowali from Nainital. Regular taxis are available from Nainital and Bhowali to Ghorakhal.
