Garjiya Devi Temple is a famous and sacred Shakti shrine of Garjiya Devi, presiding deity of the temple. Garjiya Devi is believed to be the incarnation of Goddess Parwati and daughter of Giriraj (King of the Mountains) Himalaya. Located at 75 km from Nainital near Ramnagar, Garjiya Devi temple is situated at the top of huge rock which looks alike small hill in between river Kosi. Temple is positioned at top of rock which can be reach through very steep steps.
A centre of faith and devotion of people of Kumaon region, Garjiya Devi temple becomes a crowded holy place during Kartik Poornima. A 4.5 feet tall magnificent idol of Goddess Garjiya is placed inside the temple with idols of Ganesha, Saraswati and Bhairon Nath. In the month of November – December, Kartika Poornima festival is celebrated with full rejoice in the Garjiya Mata temple. Thousands of devotees and locals came to the temple for blessings of Garjiya Devi.
Garjiya Devi is near the Jim Corbett National Park. Garjiya temple is accessible only in summers and winters as during monsoon, Kosi river water level rises up.
How To Reach Garjiya Devi Temple
Garjiya Devi Temple is located at 75 km from Nainital and 13 km from Ramnagar. Ramnagar is the nearby bus and taxi stand from where one can easily reach Garjiya Devi temple. Ramgarh also has a railway station too. From Nainital one can hire taxi or take bus to Ramnagar.
